“Afternoon Light” by Karen Hancock

This I recall to my mind, therefore I have confidence. It is by the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

The Lord is my portion, says my soul. Therefore I have confidence in Him. The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who diligently seeks Him. Lamentations 3:21-25

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power (filling of the Holy Spirit) and of love (personal love for God, knowing He loves me), and of a stabilized mind (full of truth) . . . who has called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity. 2 Timothy 1: 7, 9

Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established. The Lord has made everything for His own purpose . . . Proverbs 16:3,4

DO NOT worry yourself to gain wealth (success). CEASE from your consideration of it. When you set your eyes on it, it is gone. (These are commands!) Proverbs 23:4

Do not let your heart envy sinners, but live in respect/fear/awe of the LORD always. Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off. Listen . . . and be wise and direct your thinking in the way. Proverbs 23:17-19

No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly . . . The Lord is good to those who wait for Him; to the soul who diligently seeks Him.

NEVER COVET WHAT THE LORD HAS NOT GIVEN YOU IN GRACE

He who gives attention to the word shall find good, and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord. Psalm 119:63

. . . they who seek the Lord shall not be in want of any good thing. Psalm 34:10

. . . I love those who love me; and those who diligently seek me will find me. Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and righteousness . . . to endow those who love me with wealth, that I may fill their treasuries. Proverbs 8:14-17

. . . If anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it. Luke 9:23, 24

For every beast of the forest is Mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird of the mountains and everything that moves in the field is mine. Psalm 24:1

You ask and do not receive because you ask for yourselves with wrong motives, so that you may spend it in your pleasures (lusts) James 4:3

And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap, if we do not grow weary. Galatians 6:9

For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one examine his own work . . . do not be decieved. God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh (lusts) shall from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit shall from the Spirit reap eternal life. Galatians 6:3,4, 7,8

For consider your calling, brethren that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong. I Co 1:26, 27
